Bankhead Seafood, Now Owned by Killer Mike and T.I., Officially Reopens Sunday

Bankhead Seafood, a historic Atlanta restaurant, is making a grand comeback under the ownership of Atlanta’s own rap legends Killer Mike and T.I. The restaurant, beloved for its Southern-style cuisine, officially reopens this Sunday, signaling a new chapter for the iconic establishment.

The Legacy of Bankhead Seafood

Bankhead Seafood originally opened its doors in 1968, becoming a staple in the Atlanta community for its authentic Southern cooking and family-friendly atmosphere. Known for its crispy fried fish, hush puppies, and mouthwatering side dishes, the restaurant served generations of Atlantans before closing in 2018. Its closure left a void in the local dining scene and marked the end of an era for many loyal patrons.

The Revival by Killer Mike and T.I.

Recognizing the cultural and culinary significance of Bankhead Seafood, Michael “Killer Mike” Render and Clifford “T.I.” Harris, two Atlanta-born icons, decided to join forces to preserve its legacy. The pair purchased the restaurant in 2020, with a vision to modernize the space while staying true to its roots.

In an interview, Killer Mike emphasized the importance of revitalizing the historic eatery:
“Bankhead Seafood represents more than just food—it’s about community, culture, and history. We wanted to ensure that future generations could enjoy what so many of us grew up loving.”

What to Expect at the New Bankhead Seafood

The updated Bankhead Seafood features a blend of old-school charm and modern convenience. Here’s what customers can look forward to:

  • Expanded Menu: While staying true to its signature dishes like fried catfish and collard greens, the menu now includes healthier options and vegetarian-friendly choices.
  • Renovated Space: The restaurant has been completely remodeled, offering a more spacious dining area with updated interiors that reflect Atlanta’s rich cultural heritage.
  • Community-Centered Approach: Killer Mike and T.I. have made it a priority to employ local staff and source ingredients from nearby suppliers, further investing in the community.
  • Mobile Food Truck: In addition to the physical location, a Bankhead Seafood food truck will be hitting the streets, bringing the restaurant’s signature flavors to events and neighborhoods across Atlanta.

The Grand Reopening Celebration

The grand reopening on Sunday is expected to be a festive event. Fans and food lovers are encouraged to attend and enjoy live music, special promotions, and, of course, the delicious Southern food that has made Bankhead Seafood an Atlanta icon.

A Symbol of Hope and Growth

The reopening of Bankhead Seafood is more than just a business move—it’s a statement of resilience and growth for Atlanta’s westside community. By preserving the legacy of the restaurant, Killer Mike and T.I. are not only honoring the past but also paving the way for future generations to celebrate Atlanta’s rich cultural and culinary history.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Bankhead Seafood or a newcomer eager to experience its legendary dishes, this is one reopening you won’t want to miss.
