Laylat al-Qadr, also known as the Night of Decree or Night of Power, is one of the holiest nights in Islam. It is believed to be the night when the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by Angel Jibreel (Gabriel).
This night falls within the last ten days of Ramadan, specifically on an odd-numbered night, with the 27th night being the most commonly observed. However, in 2025, the 20th night of Ramadan corresponds to Wednesday, 19th March.
Significance of Laylat al-Qadr:
- It is described in the Quran as “better than a thousand months” (Surah Al-Qadr, 97:3), meaning that worship on this night is more valuable than 83 years of devotion.
- On this night, divine mercy and blessings descend upon the believers, and prayers are believed to be accepted.
- It is a night of forgiveness, where sincere repentance can wipe away past sins.
- The angels descend to bring peace and blessings upon those engaged in worship.
